India vs Australia 2019: Watch – Jhye Richardson Dismisses Virat Kohli for the Fourth Time
In the recent past whatever Virat Kohli has touched it turned into absolute gold. And such has been his dominance on the cricketing field for the Men in Blue. But at times, things tend to fall apart and certainly for a reason. In the ongoing fourth One-day International of India vs Australia 2019 series at PCA Stadium in Mohali, the world-class batsman has suffered a rare failure. It came only when the stage was set for him. And young Aussie paceman Jhye Richardson had the last laugh.
On winning the toss in the penultimate ODI, Kohli backed himself to bat first and the decision equally proved when opening pair in the form of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have stitched a staggering 193-run partnership.
At one stage India was looking settled to go anything beyond the 375-run mark, as Australia bowlers have not only stemmed the flow, but they went on to eke out wickets to keep hosts fighting for a total which could mount pressure back on the opposition.
Rohit failed to register his 23rd ODI ton. On the other end, Dhawan forced his way to slam his 16th ODI hundred by slamming 143 off 115 deliveries.
Meanwhile, Kohli, who came to bat after the fall of Dhawan on the bowling of Pat Cummins, slammed a solitary four while facing six balls for his seven.
India lost the second wicket at 254 in 37.4 overs before Kohli returned in 40th over when Richardson bagged his wicket for the fourth time since Australia series. Back home, Richardson managed to dismiss Kohli on three occasions.
On the fourth delivery of 40th over, Richardson bowled a widish deliver as Kohli aimed to make most by attempting to squeeze the ball through covers. But he got an outside edge when bat hit the ground at the same time. Well, the ball further carried into Alex Carey’s gloves.
However, on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena went upstairs for a clearance. The TV replays suggested it was a clean catch from Carey.
Furthermore, India has set the target of 359 for India at Mohali. Richardson, who turned out to be expensive picked three scalps. He conceded 85 runs in nine overs.
However, Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers by clinching a five-wicket haul.
