As the Men in Blue looked to build-up the innings following a jittery start, the hosts lost its third wicket in the form of Ambati Rayudu. The top-order batsman Rayudu tried to glide the ball, but he was beaten all hands up by premium spinner Nathan Lyon. In the ongoing second One-dayer of India vs Australia 2019 series in Nagpur, Rayudu scored 18 off 32 balls.
Interestingly, Lyon managed to pick his first wicket in between four ODIs. Also, of late, it has proven how poor outing he has had while representing the Kangaroos in the day-long format.
Earlier, the Australian captain, Aaron Finch pushed India to bat first. Interestingly, Nagpur surface is dubbed to help spinners, all through.
With decision backing Australia, India lost the opener Rohit Sharma on nought while facing the sixth delivery of the very first over of India’s innings.
However, the Men in Blue saw Kohli alongside Shikhar Dhawan added 38 runs for the second wicket before Glenn Maxwell trapped Dhawan in front of stumps.
Meanwhile, the dynamic leader in Kohli leads his team in his own way. The batting stalwart further added 37 runs for the third wicket alongside Rayudu. But it didn’t last long, as the right-handed batsman Rayudu was dismissed by Lyon on his return while delivering his first over of the game.
Rayudu gifted his wicket?
The incident happened on the final delivery of 17th over of India’s innings. At the stroke of drinks, Rayudu has literally gifted his wicket. He aimed to collect a single while playing the ball with an angled bat towards third man region. Subsequently, the spin got big on him. In result, the ball thudded on his back pad right in front of the stumps.
Furthermore, without wasting any time, Lyon including close-in fielders asked standing umpire Nitin Menon a question who has put up his dreaded finger. However, Rayudu straight away asked for a review while having a brief chat with skipper Kohli.
However, the Windies third umpire Joel Wilson took a bit of time before signalling Rayudu out. The ball-tracking showed it pitched in-line before hitting the middle-stump.
Earlier, the UltraEdge has reflected nothing on the willow.
Meanwhile, with a pleasing stroke from Vijay Shankar on the bowling of Nathan Coulter-Nile, India brought its hundred in 20.1 overs.
