How good was that knock from Usman Khawaja at Feroz Shah Kotla? Right from the first ball, he looked in a decent nick with the ball flowing away after meeting the middle of his willow. He smashed all the Indian bowlers with sheer timing to bring the second century of the series, which is also second in his brief ODI career.
Usman Khawaja alongside Peter Handscomb once again added a brilliant partnership for the team in the final ODI of the series. His century knock helped Australia to put 272 runs on the board thus giving a fair bit of total for the bowlers to defend.
We will do things which are under our control – Usman Khawaja
Speaking of the game in the post-innings show, the flamboyant batsman quoted that it was nice to see a good total on the board. Further, he added that the partnership between Jhye Richardson and Pat Cummins was crucial, which helped Australia to put a good total on the board.
”Nice to get a competitive total. We have lost a few wickets in the middle, but that partnership between Jhye and Patty was really good. When I was out there, I was thinking 280 would be fine on this kind of wicket,” Usman Khawaja said to Matthew Hayden.
Wicket is wearing:
And also, he revealed that the wicket is deteriorating after each ball, which made it tough for the batsman. Usman believes that the wicket would continue to worsen, which would help the bowlers to defend the tally.
”it’s one of those wickets that is gonna get harder and harder. Hopefully, we will bowl well and field well. The wicket is wearing and hopefully, it will keep wearing. We will do things that are under our control and hopefully bowl well,” he added.
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out. The centurion of Australia is confident of things falling in place for his side. So far, they have done a decent job with the bat and a good show with the ball will see them bagging the trophy.
