India vs Australia 2019: Onus on Bowling Line-up to Restrict the Score – Zaheer Khan
India’s former pacer Zaheer Khan believes the responsibility is on the bowling line-up to restrict the score. The hosts had gone on to concede 359 runs in the fourth Mohali One Day International. Consequently, the Indian bowlers were taken to cleaners by the Australian batters. Yuzvendra Chahal had the worse figures as he conceded 80 runs in his 10 overs quota.
Meanwhile, Ashton Turner was at his best as the right-hander played a whirlwind knock of 84 runs off just 43 balls. The power-hitter smashed five fours and six sixes in his blistering knock. Thus, the Indian bowlers had a rare bad day at the office. In fact, this was the highest run-chase for the Australian team and it was the fifth highest chase in the history of ODI format.
Meanwhile, India has had issues with their fifth bowler. Kedar Jadhav and Vijay Shankar have combined to fill in the shoes of the fifth bowler. The duo conceded 76 runs in the third ODI at Ranchi whereas they gave away 73 runs in their 10 overs in the fourth ODI.
Vijay Shankar is still young in his International career whereas Kedar Jadhav has done a good job with the ball. Jadhav has kept the runs down and he has also provided the breakthroughs at crucial junctions.
Zaheer Khan said while talking at Cricbuzz, “The top five bowlers need to take responsibility in this kind of playing XI as a bowling unit you have to take the onus that the opposing team score 20 runs below the par score”.
Meanwhile, India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya is expected to be the team’s fifth bowler in the ICC World Cup 2019. Pandya is currently out of the team with the back injury.
On the other hand, India’s bowling line-up has taken giant strides in the recent past. They have been at their best and they are going to play a key role in India’s success at the World Cup.
