While, KL Rahul, who returned to form in the T20I against Australia is likely to take the one drop position. An inform Rahul is an asset for any team, and Virat Kohli will not like to waste him. Kohli admitted he can bat at any place and has batted at no four many times in the past. He also noted that he will play the regular game that he has been doing for years now.
“I’ve batted a lot of times at number four. I don’t necessarily try it out as I’ve done that a lot in the past. My game doesn’t change much from number three to four because the template is quite similar. In any given situation I try to play the game I know,” Kohli said on the eve of ODI series against Australia.
Rahul has made a strong case for World Cup
After struggling throughout the Australia tour, KL Rahul has finally found his touch back. He played two classical knocks in the T20Is against Australia and made a strong case for himself. Virat Kohli heaped praise of the Karnataka batsman saying that it is hard to find a batsman of Rahul’s calibre.
The Indian skipper is hopeful that KL Rahul will bank on this to score few more runs and get his confidence back ahead of the IPL.
“He (Rahul) can keep batting like that. It’s difficult to find a consistent batsman who can play good cricketing shots and still win you games. It’s a rare ability and I think he’s all the shorts. He can build on this and get some more innings under his belt. He’s made a strong case for himself in the World Cup,” he concluded.
