India vs Australia 2019: Pat Cummins Hopeful of Carrying ODI form to World Cup
Pat Cummins is at the numero uno position in the ICC Test rankings. Cummins has been a brilliant bowler in the red ball version of the game. However, he wasn’t able to carry the same form in the white ball format of the game. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins was able to turn the tables in the ODI series against India. Cummins was at his best in the five-match series and ended as the leading wicket-taker with 14 scalps in the series.
Subsequently, the fast bowler is hopeful to carry forward the ODI form into the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Cummins bowled at an outstanding average of 15.71 and economy rate of 4.65. Consequently, the gun fast bowler was instrumental in Australia’s 3-2 series win.
Cummins was instrumental in Australia’s success.
“I’ve played a little bit of one-day cricket before but it felt like I hadn’t really clicked in this format. It felt like I bowled well in the Australian summer, so glad it keeps on clicking. Hopefully, it continues for the World Cup,” Cummins was quoted as saying by AAP after Australia beat India by 35 runs in the fifth and final ODI to win the series 3-2.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins reaped fruits for bowling his heart out. Cummins gave credit to the collective team effort for surprising India. Furthermore, Cummins believes the selectors are going to have some selection headaches as David Warner and Steven Smith will also get back into the squad.
“I wouldn’t want to be a selector. It’s going to be a tough job, whittling it down to 15,” Cummins said. “There’s obviously a few guys to come back as well. The batsmen, the way they played the spinners and the quicks in India – it was incredible. To get those kinds of scores on these kinds of wickets, they made it look a lot easier to bat on than it was.”
Pat Cummins is going to be a vital cog in Australia’s World Cup wheel. There is still question marks on the fitness of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Hence, Cummins is going to be Australia’s pack leader in the World Cup.
Cummins has hit great lengths and he has breathed down the neck of the opposition batsmen with his lightning speed. Thus, Cummins will like to continue with the impetus in the upcoming ODI showpiece.
Meanwhile, Australia will lock horns with Pakistan in the five-match series in the UAE. This would be the last ODI series for the Australian team before the World Cup. Australia will begin their World Cup against Afghanistan.
