Of late, in every other game, the vice-captain of India Rohit Sharma is reaching some other record. In the latest, the flamboyant batsman becomes the quickest opener to reach 6000 ODI runs in International Cricket. He surpassed South Africa’s Hashim Amla and the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar to achieve the feat.
Rohit Sharma reached the mark in 121 innings while Hashim Amla garnered the same number of runs in 123 innings. Meanwhile, the former Indian opening batsman Sachin Tendulkar took 133 innings to achieve the feat, which was the quickest during his times.
Rohit Sharma on verge of scoring 8000 ODI runs:
In another record, Rohit Sharma is on the brink of scoring 8000 ODI runs in his career. If he breaks the record in the game against Australia at Delhi, he will become the ninth Indian cricket team player to reach 8000 runs.

Earlier Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Sourav Ganguly and Mohammad Azharuddin achieved the feat for Indian National Cricket Team.
Coming back to the game, earlier in the day, Australia won the toss and asked the home side to bowl first. Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja started things brilliantly but couldn’t quite capitalise the start. Finch was the first to go with 27 runs to his name.

However, the other opener Usman Khawaja carried his scintillating form to score a blistering hundred. Peter Handscomb also carried his fine form to scored 52 to his name. Unfortunately, Australia lost both their hard-hitting batsmen Glenn Maxwell and Ashton Turner. However, the late blitz from the tail-enders helped Australia reach 272 on the board.
In reply, India lost Shikhar Dhawan early in the innings. However, Rohit Sharma and the Indian skipper Virat Kohli stabilised things in the middle. Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the wrecker-in-chief for India with 3 wickets while Shami and Jadeja chipped in with a couple of wickets.
