Australia won the toss and decided to field first against India in the second One-Day International at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.
Here is what the captains said:
Aaron Finch:
“We’re going to have a bowl. We expect it to spin a bit and hopefully when the lights come on, it might play better. We didn’t play our best in the last game, obviously Dhoni and Jadhav played well to get them across the line. A bit more improvement in the batting and bowling should help.”
Virat Kohli:
“We wanted to bat first, pretty much a no-brainer. Not much dew in the evening and it’s a dry surface. Not typical of the kind of pitches you get here, doesn’t look like it will bounce much. We expect it to deteriorate further as the game progresses. We have the same team.”
Preview:
Team India will be looking to continue their winning run in ODIs over Australia when they host the visitors in Nagpur. The stats are firmly in India’s favour at this venue. So far, the Men in Blue and Australia have played three games in Nagpur and the hosts have ended up on the winning side on each occasion. Interestingly, India playing against Australia at this venue in 2009 was the first-ever ODI at this venue.
But keeping aside the results and the stats, both the teams will be once again looking to fine tune the team-combination as they use the series to prepare for the World Cup. India could likely bring in KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant while Australia are likely to bring in Shaun Marsh in place of Ashton Turner,
