India vs Bangladesh 2017: Murali Vijay Reveals Success of His Partnership With Cheteshwar Pujara 1

At the start of the day, who would have thought that KL Rahul, who played an innings of 199 in the final Test match at Chennai against England would fail to provide a good start to the team. After showing positive signs on the first delivery of the day, KL Rahul was dismissed on the fourth delivery as he attracted an outside off delivery to the stumps by cutting an edge of it. Again, the responsibility fell on Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara to now ensure a safe position for the team and just like past, both of them were able to steer the team ahead. They share 178 runs for the second wicket, rescuing the team from an abysmal start.

Speaking on the partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara, Murali Vijay said,

“We really enjoy each others company in the middle and he (Pujara) has a solid game and you know he makes thing easy for me and we both gave a good rapport inside, so it makes it easy I guess. In the morning wicket was pretty two pace, I guess with the new ball and in the afternoon session, it became a little bit slower,” Vijay said.

“I am just playing one format of the game and now I have got a decent idea of it and I want to give as many consistent starts as possible to team India and I am waiting for my opportunity in the other two formats as well,” he added.

Commenting on Kohli’s innings of 111* Vijay said,

“It always a great sight to see Virat see play the way he plays. He has taken his game to an another level, as you can see at end of days play India 356/3 and I thought 340 would be enough. The 16 run extra happened because of him. The way he was striking the ball was fantastic. Hopefully, he can continue the same thing tomorrow.”

It was a day dominated by the Indian team where batsmen made merry and owned Bangladesh bowlers, who just let slip the early advantage from their hands. Still, they have a chance to make a comeback if and only they are able to take early breakthroughs tomorrow morning. However, the chances of this event happening are slim.
