Indian skipper Virat Kohli notched up the fourth double century of his career while Wriddhiman Saha completed his second ton, as India declared their first innings on a total of 687 for six. In reply, Bangladesh lost just one wicket for 41 runs at stumps on Day 2 of one-off Test match at Hyderabad.
The hosts started the proceedings on second day with some style as Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane quickly helped hosts cross the 400-run mark. During the course, Rahane completed his half-century while Virat Kohli kept himself busy on other end by knocking some balls past the boundary line. Before lunch, Rahane was caught out on 82, as a sharp catch by Mehedi Hasan gave Taijul Islam his second scalp of the match.
Post first session, it took Virat Kohli couple of overs to complete his fourth double hundred and surpass Sir Donald Bradman’s record of registering four 200 plus scores in consecutive series. Moments later, he was wrongly adjudged LBW on 204, as Taijul Islam bagged the big fish for the visitors. However, it didn’t stop the lower-middle order to pile on runs.
Wriddhiman Saha carried his Irani Trophy form into the game and successfully registered his second hundred of his career. With full support from Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja on the other end, Saha became the first Indian designated wicket-keeper to score a ton on both, home and foreign grounds. India, after losing six wickets, declared on 687 runs.
In the reply, Bangladesh started well scoring 38 runs before losing their sole wicket of the day. The visitors finished the day at 41/1, with 646 runs behind and three days to go.
