India vs Bangladesh 2017, One-Off Test: It Was A Difficult Wicket To Bowl On, Says Ishant Sharma

On the fifth day of the one-off Test against Bangladesh at Hyderabad, the most fascinating aspect for Indian fans was the sensational spell of fast bowling from their senior most pacer, Ishant Sharma. The Delhi pacer, who hasn’t been a regular in the playing XI this season, was on the money with a near perfect bowling spell as he made great use of the short-pitched stuff to trouble the Bangladeshi batsmen. Despite bowling so well, he was unlucky to not get more than two wickets.
During Ishant’s spell, a moment of confrontation was witnessed as the lanky pacer got into a tussle with Sabbir Rahman. The two shared a few glares which led to an exchange of few words.
Post India’s win, Ishant admitted he was eager to show his aggression.
“When the ball is reversing, I know how to make the most of it because I can move it both ways. We are No. 1 side, and we are playing against Bangladesh and we have to show that we are aggressive,” said Ishant.
“I think the way Umesh and Bhuvi bowled, it was tremendous to see how they hit their lengths on a flat pitch. It was a pretty difficult wicket to bowl on, but if you are patient enough, you can get the rewards.”
India’s ever reliable Cheteshwar Pujara continued his rich vein of form at Hyderabad and he reflected on the same:
“It’s my wedding anniversary, really proud that the guys have finished the match early for me,” said Cheteshwar Pujara, who has the most first-class runs in an Indian season.
“My first Test hundred was here, then I got a double against Austrlalia. Missed out on a hundred in the first innings, but came back in the second. Most of the timeS yes (When asked about whether he doesn’t sleep when he misses a 100), recently I’ve been missing out on hundreds, got out on 70s, 80s. Overall I’m in good form. I think it all started from the Duleep Trophy. I wasn’t getting big scores, but once I got that double hundred there, my footwork came along, my concentration came along. I’m really happy with the way the season’s gone.”
