BCCI announced the squad for one-off Test against Bangladesh. Parthiv Patel was dropped from the squad with Abhinav Mukund, who last played a Test match for India almost six years back in England, making a comeback in the team.
Abhinav Mukund made a comeback to the squad riding on his brilliant show in the Ranji Trophy as he plundered a total of 849 runs in 10 matches at an average of 54.11. He smashed four centuries and three half-centuries. Along with that, he also led the Tamil Nadu team to the semi-final stage.
Parthiv Patel is the notable exclusion from the squad as selectors have preferred Wriddhiman Saha for the series, who put up his case for a comeback after hitting a double century in the Irani Cup. Selectors had already said that Saha is their first choice for wicket-keeper; thus Parthiv was dropped from the squad.
Jayant Yadav, who missed the fifth Test and limited overs series against England has made a comeback after proving his fitness. He is currently playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Haryana. Along with him, Hardik Pandya has also made a comeback to the Test squad after the latter was ruled out in middle of the Test series against England, due to an injury.
Mohammed Shami has not been included in the squad as the fast bowler is going through rehabilitation and is yet to recover from the injury.
The historic Test match between the two countries will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Uppal in Hyderabad. Before the Test match, Bangladesh will be taking on the Abhinav Mukund-led India A squad in a two-day game at Gymkhana ground in Hyderabad.
