It’s advantage England on the first day of the first Test match in the India-England Test series which got underway today at Rajkot. India picked up 3 early wickets but courtesy Joe Root and Moeen Ali who helped England reach a position of comfort at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. England ended the day at 311/4 in 93 overs.
Here are 5 talking points from the first day of play:
India’s 3 dropped catches : Indian fielding let them down as India dropped 3 catches in the first hour of play. The first opportunity to be wasted was by Ajinkya Rahane who dropped England skipper Alastair Cook. Then it was Indian skipper’s turn to drop the same batsman again in the next over. The third and the final catch dropped was of Haseeb Hameed by Indian opening batsman Murali Vijay. These fielding mistakes often proved to be crucial for a team but luckily for India the dropped catches did not hurt much as the Indian spinners struck early.
