India vs England 1st Test day 1: Performer Of The Day!

So first of the five-match Test started today with the visiting captain Alastair Cook winning the toss.
Cook didn’t have a second thought and straight away decided to bat first. The pitch looked good for batting at least for the first two days.

England Got to a shaky start with Cook edging a catch to Ajinkya Rahane in the very first over but lucky for him, the Mumbaikar dropped it.
And as a matter of fact, the English openers gave 3 opportunities at the slips but Rahane, Virat Kohli, and Murali Vijay made a mess of it
dropping all 3. Soon after a frustrating time for the fast bowler, the spinners were brought and they did not disappoint Jadeja Dismissed Cook while Ashwin took care of Hammed the 19-year-old debutant and ben Duckett.
After the 1st session, England were 102/3.

But After Cooks dismissal walked out a star batsman who loves batting Against India.

Joe root took over in the 2nd session along with Moeen Ali. Looking settled in the middle he steadied the Ship for them. Forming a nice partnership with Moeen Ali he played his all his Stokes with a positive Intent sweeping the spinners. Soon he got to his fifty easily never look troubled. after his fifty he kept rotating the strike and hitting odd boundaries.

Running between the Wickets was too good between him and Moin Ali.
Soon before the Lunch session, the pair completed their hundred runs Partnership.
England Ended the 2nd session on a high with a score of 209/3 on the board. Root was solid at 93 and Moin Ali at 48.

In the post-tea session, they continued their dominance against the Indian spinners. Soon Joe root Completed his Century in just around 150 balls.

It was his 11th ton and 3rd against India. He became the first foreign batsman to score a century in India after Michael Clarke in 2013.
He again showed how much he loved batting against India. He might have just said that he’s ready the long season.

He continued his Brilliance with the bat hitting the spinners for a couple of boundaries and even a six.

But soon after India got the 2nd new ball they Immediately Introduced Umesh Yadav and he didn’t disappoint.
In that very over Joe root gave a straightforward catch to him and Umesh Yadav grabbed it.

Though there was a doubt if he took the catch cleanly or not, but he did. Unfortunately for Joe Root, he had to walk back with a score of 124.
But what a brilliant Century that was. Innings like these can set the tone for the series.
And Indeed he was the Best performer of the day.

At the end of the day, England are 304/4 and in a very good position to dominate the Test.
