2. VVS Laxman Accused Of Applying Vaseline On His Bat (2011):

The vaseline once again raised its ugly head during the India’s tour of England in 2011. One of the finest gentlemen of the game, VVS Laxman was accused of malpractice to manipulate the Hot-Spot technology in the Decision Review System during the Trent Bridge Test.
Trying to play a James Anderson delivery, Laxman failed to make contact with the ball. But Anderson and the English players went up in appeal as they were confident that the batsman had nicked the delivery. However, the Hot Spot did not show any edge though Snicko showed there was a noise as the ball passed across the bat.
Former England skipper Michael Vaughan added fuel to the fire by tweeting:“Has Vaseline on the outside edge saved the day for Laxman?”
The speculations were later quashed by the company that was behind the technology. The company named BBG Sports claimed that a batsman would have to apply a whole centimetre of the lubricant to manipulate the technology.
