- Kedar Jadhav – The Finisher:
Ever since the tour of Bangladesh in mid 2015, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was vocal about his desires to bat higher up the order and spend some time in the middle. However, the absence of a cool and able finisher had the side and Dhoni worried. That was obvious in India’s back to back series defeats against South Africa and Australia, as a late flurry down the order minimized their chances of winning.
Jadhav, in the last three ODIs, has provided a perfect solution to that problem. He made the chase at Pune look like an absolute cakewalk, as he belted England bowlers without breaking a sweat. The dynamic batsman almost won it for India in the third ODI as he got the team back in the hunt out of literally nowhere. After being named Man of the Series, Jadhav’s confidence will be sky high, and with the Champions Trophy in mind, he is the finisher which India desperately need.
