- Ravichandran Ashwin needs to come good:
As far as Ravichandran Ashwin is concerned, England ODIs for him was a mixed bag as he went through contrasting outings. At Pune, Ashwin was content in being outright defensive as he constantly targeted the pads of the batsmen in order to contain. Doing so was a poor decision as the England batsmen easily countered a wicket-taking option. He though, was splendid at Cuttack with an enigmatic bowling performance which broke England’s spine in the chase.
At Kolkata though, things seemed bleak again as Ashwin was wicket-less. On decks that could be not too spin friendly; Ashwin needs to find his rhythm soon and at the earliest, as his overs could be decisive for India. As a match winner, there are no clouds over his credentials, but in an event like the Champions Trophy, Ashwin will have to be at his supreme best if India is to get those crucial wickets in the middle overs.
