India Vs England 2017: Tickets for First ODI sold out 1

The Maharashtra Cricket Association has announced that the tickets for the first One Day International cricket match between India and England which is scheduled to take place on January 15th, 2017 at the MCA’s international stadium, Gahunje have been sold out.

The sale of tickets started from December 15th and were sold out within 12 days as reported by the Maharashtra cricket association. They also stated that bookings for both physical and online tickets have thus ended.

The stadium will now have a capacity of 37,406 in attendance at the game due to the sellout. This is the second ODI to be hosted at the stadium after a three-year gap.

The last time an ODI was played at the MCA stadium was a match between India and Australia on October 13, 2013.

MCA president Ajay Shirke quoted “This is a great moment for MCA. Among many reasons for this sell-out include, the current form of the Indian team, the long gap since the last ODI was played in Pune, the following that the sport has in India and undoubtedly the Punekars”

England, when they return to the country after the Christmas and New Yera’s break are scheduled to play three ODI’s against the hosts. The other two games will be played at Cuttack (January 19) and Kolkata (January 22).

After the completion of the ODI series, the two teams are also set to play three T20I’s at Kanpur, Nagpur and Bengaluru.
