England team may miss out on the services of the fast bowling spearhead Stuart Broad who is expected to miss the third Test match at Mohali as the tall and lanky fast bowler is suffering from knee and wrist issues. He also underwent a foot scan during the second Test match and the surprising moment came when he left the field on day one of the second Test after taking an early wicket of KL Rahul in the first over he bowled.
During the second Test at Vizag, Broad himself indicated that he might miss the Mohali Test as he said “So physically it has been quite a tough Test match but it’s all part of the job that you have to crack on a little bit,” Broad told reporters in Visakhapatnam.
“You have got 17 days to Mumbai which is quite a long time, slightly less for Mohali, try and get fit for the next one but definitely be fit for Mumbai,” said Broad.
He gave clear indication that he now has his eyes set on the fourth Test and is in a mood to skip the Mohali game. Well yes, 17 days are more than enough for a player like Broad to recover from these issues and get well in time before the start of the penultimate Test.
With Broad being missing the game, Chris Woakes will walk in the squad as his replacement. Though captain has two more options in form of Jake Ball and Steven Finn but batting abilities is something which keeps Woakes above others. He averages 32.81 in 15 Test matches since his debut.
The third Test between India and England start from November 26 at Mohali. Indian team is already one up in the series with three Test matches still to be played.
