India vs England Second Test: Player Ratings Of Virat Kohli’s Team!

India drew first blood in the 5 match Test series against England with a 246-run victory in the second Test match at Visakhapatnam. The match belonged to the bowlers rather than the batters but the whole team performed well as a unit which saw them emerge victorious over the English team.

Here are the player ratings of the Indian team:

Murali Vijay (2/10): Murali Vijay’s performance in the second Test at Visakhapatnam was not at all impressive as he scored a 20 in the first innings and 3 in the second. Vijay’s failure at the top of the order saw India lose early wickets in the both the innings.

Lokesh Rahul (1.5/10): Lokesh Rahul the another opener was even worse than Murali Vijay as he failed to get off the mark in the first innings before getting out to Stuart Broad. In the second innings Rahul managed only 10 runs doing no good to the Indian team. Rahul’s performance with the bat has been disappointing in the Test match as he had no impact whatsoever in the game.

Virat Kohli (8/10): Virat Kohli was the highest run-getter for India in the Test match scoring 167-runs in the first and 81-runs in the second. Kohli and Pujara saw India out of trouble in the first innings after they lost their openers at a very early stage. Kohli was also impressive as a captain as this was his 15th Test win as the Indian skipper.

Cheteshwar Pujara (6/10): Cheteshwar Pujara was classy along with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the first innings when he scored 119 runs off 204 balls. His innings included 12 boundaries and 2 biggies but in the second innings he could not quite sort himself out. He was cleaned- up by Anderson in the second for a score of 1.

Ajinkya Rahane (2/10): Rahane got off to a good start in both his innings but could not quite capitalise on his starts. He ended up giving his wicket cheaply in both the innings. His scores were 23 and 26 in the first and second respectively.

Wriddiman Saha (2/10): Wriddhiman Saha, the Indian wicket keeper struggled against spin in the test match as he lost both his wickets to the spinners. He could only manage 5 runs in total.

Ravichandran Ashwin (8/10): Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers grabbing 8 wickets in both the innings combined. His bowling rattled the English batting line up as they struggled to play spin. Ashwin was also impressive with the bat in the first innings when the lower order failed to impress.

Ravindra Jadeja (4/10): Ravindra Jadeja did not have a good time on the pitch with the bat but his bowling was more than effective in the second innings of the second test match. He picked up two crucial wickets in the second innings helping India register their first victory in the series.

Jayant Yadav (6/10): Jayant Yadav had a good test match as he batted well lower down the order in both the innings. He scored 35 in the first and remained unbeaten on 27 in the second which is quite good for a lower order batsmen. He also picked up 3 wickets in the second innings that were very important in wrapping up England.

Umesh Yadav (2/10): Umesh Yadav did not bowl particularly well in the match as he could only pick up a wicket in the whole of the match. He did not have much to do other than that in a match that belonged to the spinners.

Mohammed Shami (6/10): Mohammed Shami picked up the important wicket of Joe Root in the second innings with which England’s hope of saving the test match faded away. He picked up 3 wickets in the match and was the pcik of the two fast bowlers.
