With regular opener Shikhar Dhawan missing the series due to an injury, Rahane is expected to be the makeshift opener. Usually a middle order batsman, the Mumbai star will open alongside Rohit, as skipper MS Dhoni prefers to have him at the top. Rahane’s recent ODI record has been terrific as he made a couple of half centuries in Australia before being injured. A good performance in the ODI series will help him to further cement his spot.
