India vs New Zealand 2019: Auckland Contribution Delights Krunal Pandya

In ongoing India vs New Zealand 2019 Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) series, the left-arm orthodox spinner Krunal Pandya has starred for the Men in Blue while bagging three wickets while giving away 28 runs in four overs. The promising bowler bowled his heart out in Auckland on Friday (February 8). Krunal, who has bagged Man of the Match, maintained he is pleased with his performance in the top-flight cricket.

“It felt really nice to contribute for the team,” Krunal told in a post-match presentation.

The 27-year-old bowling all-rounder Krunal couldn’t deliver much in the T20I opener in Wellington, but weaved the web in the penultimate T20–to help visitors to clinch the must-win game by seven wickets.

India chased the target in 18.5 overs.

Earlier, hosts opted to bat first to put 158 for eight on board. In response, Team India openers; Rohit Sharma 50 (28) and Shikhar Dhawan 30 (31) gave a resounding start to post 79 in 9.2 overs.

However, in the end, Rishabh Pant (40*) and MS Dhoni (20) saw India home with seven balls to spare. Rishabh hit the winning runs for India on the bowling off Scott Kuggelejin.

Special feeling for Krunal Pandya:

Moreover, Krunal who picked the wicket of Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson reiterated it’s always a proud moment when one delivers for his team in whatever way the professional could.

“It’s always special when you contribute to a win,” Krunal added.

While speaking about Eden Park’s unique dimensions, Krunal stressed he has to adjust his length while considering the straight portion of the ground. He added he is aiming to continue to do his best with the ball.

“The dimensions are quite different from Wellington, the straight boundaries were short and I had to adjust my length to it. Looking forward to the decider in two days time,” Krunal signed off.

The Baroda-based all-rounder Krunal is also playing alongside his younger brother Hardik Pandya. The fast bowling all-rounder Hardik managed to pick the wicket of Colin de Grandhomme.

With series tied at one each, India will take on the Black Caps at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday (February 10).
