In the ongoing New Zealand vs India 2020 tour, Virat Kohli and Co. won the first T20I match comprehensively by six wickets against the Black Caps in Auckland. Being the small boundaries of Eden park, the hosts had created pressure on Indian bowlers. They were successful in registering a huge target of 204 runs against the Men in Blue.
However, the Indian batsmen were equally up to the task to chase the mammoth target. The highlight of the game was the batting of Shreyas Iyer. The youngster brought back Team India in the game. After his confident performance, he has surely cemented his place at No.4.
So, India will take some positive points from the first game while Virat Kohli will also like to improve some areas in the game.
Thus, here we will discuss the two possible changes Team India could opt for the 2nd T20I which will be played on Sunday (26 January) in Eden Park.
1. Navdeep Saini in place of Shardul Thakur:
Shardul Thakur got back the place in the Indian team in the home series against the West Indies. There he showed prolific performance not only with the ball but also with the bat. Thus, with his splendid performance, he also earned the place in the ODI series against Australia. But he was badly thrashed by Aussies in the first game. After which he was dropped from Playing XI in the other two matches and Navdeep Saini was brought back in the game.
Similarly, Thakur in the first T20I match in Auckland was taken to the cleaners. Though he was successful in taking a wicket of Collin Munro. But he proved to be an expensive bowler. In his three overs, he conceded 44 runs at an economy rate of 14.7.
Therefore, Virat Kohli could possibly hand a chance to young Navdeep Saini. He can be a fruitful with the ball alongside speedster Jasprit Bumrah in the second T20I in Auckland.
