The date for the India vs Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 is out. The arch-rivals will lock horns against each other on August 28, just a day after the tournament gets underway in the United Arabia Emirates. This will be their first meeting since the epic clash in the T20 World Cup last year where Pakistan had inflicted a humiliating 10-wicket defeat on India.

The Men in Blue will be desperate to avenge that loss in the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash while Pakistan would be eyeing another victory. And while only time will tell which team manages to cross the finishing line, former Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif believes his country will have the upper hand during the clash.  Speaking in detail about both sides on his official YouTube channel, Latif pointed out the reason for his assessment.

Pakistan to win India vs Pakistan clash?

Talking about the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash, Latif reasoned that India’s continual changes in captaincy, as well as inconsistent appearances of star players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli could cost them the tie against Pakistan.

“Win or loss is different. But I think Pakistan’s strategy is looking much better. There are not many changes in the Pakistan side, whether it’s T20I, ODI or Test. When you look at India, they have had around 7 captains in the past year, which is quite inappropriate in present situation,” Latif said.

“Kohli isn’t there, Rohit and Rahul were injured. Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant came as captains, Shikhar Dhawan (ODI) also came as a captain. They would have some problem making their best team. It is no doubt that India have the best players but they can’t make their best-16, and I think they would have problems even forming their best XI,” he added.

While concluding, Latif stated that Pakistan had won against India last year due to the latter’s mistake and predicted that his country would capitalise on their rivals’ mistake once again.

“Pakistan won because of India’s mistakes last year, and I think this time, Pakistan will benefit from India’s mistakes again,” said Latif.
