The hosts India thrashed the visitors South Africa in the first Test of the three-match Test series at Visakhapatnam. After that great victory, social media users are praising the Indian team for their dominating victory. Former and veteran cricketers have also joined in this party.

From day one of this Test match, India dominated over the Proteas team. Indian captain Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss. Indian newly experimental opening partners Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma provided a marvelous start. While both scored giant centuries, they provided the 317 runs partnership.

Coming to bat as a Test opener for the first time, Rohit scored 176 runs. Meanwhile, Mayank was playing his first Test innings in India and smashed his first Test century. In fact, he stretched that knock to the brilliant double century. Mayank finally scored 215 runs before losing his wicket. Their dominance helped India to manage 502/7 before the declaration.

In reply, Dean Elgar (160 runs) and Quinton de Kock’s (111 runs) centuries helped South Africa to fight back strongly. Also, the captain Faf du Plessis hit a half-century as he scored 55 runs. Their innings helped the visitors to manage 431 runs in their first innings, but India still had 71 runs lead at the end of that innings.

The veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was playing his first Test in this year, claimed seven wickets in that innings. He finished that innings with the top bowling figures of 46.2-11-145-7.

India set the fourth innings target of 395 runs

Indian Test opener Rohit Sharma hit another century in their second innings that set a good total for them. This time, the right-handed opening batsman scored 126 runs off 149 balls (10 fours and seven sixes). Also, Cheteshwar Pujara scored the good runs as he managed to add 81 runs off 148 balls. After reaching 323/4, the Indian captain Virat Kohli decided to declare that innings.

The hosts set the 395 runs target for the visitors South Africa. In reply, the Proteas’ batsmen were struggling against the Indian bowlers. Once they were battling on 70/8. Later, the tailenders added 121 runs for the last two wickets before ending that innings on 191 runs. Two lower-order batsmen Dane Piedt (56 runs) and the debutant Senuran Muthusamy (49*) were the top run-scorers in that innings.

Among the Indian bowlers, the right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami (5/35) and the left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (4/87) took five and four wickets respectively in that innings.
