India vs South Africa 2019/20: Deepak Chahar Has Confidence To Bowl In Death Overs

India won the second T20I against South Africa in Mohali by seven wickets. South Africa set the target of 150 runs. Deepak Chahar picked two wickets and one of them was of Temba Bavuma as he halted the player to score a half-century. Chahar shared what he felt after performing in the field.

He feels that he has gained confidence by playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The present Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler has played 34 IPL matches.

“Whenever you do good in a match, you get confidence. And the confidence I got from IPL, it benefitted me”

Chahar detects that it is easier to bowl for him in death overs and gives logic behind it.

“I find it easy to bowl death overs because, in the powerplay, you only get two fielders outside the circle. However, after the powerplay, you get five fielders outside. Therefore, I find it easy to bowl death overs,” Deepak Chahar said during a post-match press conference.

“It is still one year for the World Cup and I do not think far too ahead. I take every match as my last match. At this time, Indian cricket is at the top and if you want to find a spot, you will have to do very good and that too, in every match because there is a lot of competition.”

Further asked about skipper’s performance, Chahar was stunned by seeing Virat Kohli making consistent runs and labelled him as a “next-level player”

“I don’t know how Virat bhaiya (brother) manages to score these many runs and that too with such consistency. He is a next-level player.”
