India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Preview: India Look to Maintain the Momentum at Motera
After leading the India vs. Sri Lanka 5 match series by 1-0 India is full of confidence. They will try to register their 2nd win to go closer to the series win. On the other hand Sri Lanka will try to balance series by winning the 2nd One Day International. The 2nd ODI will be held at Ahmedabad on 6th November, 2014.
Indian top order is just succeeded in the previous match as I said in my match report. The top order played flawlessly which led India to the victory. After a mediocre start to the year, Sikhar Dhawan is looking in good shape at last. His innings culminated in his innings of 113 against Sri Lanka, his sixth ODI hundred. The well-structured opening partnership always helps to give a momentum for the rest of the innings. The opening pair Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan, put up a commanding partnership of 231 runs. Rahane scored 111 in a partnership which proved they are in great form lately. It will be great news for India. Raina got a half ton. He played a good innings. He could be deadly in the next match. The middle order batsmen like Kohli and Rayadu did not click in the previous match. They performance were not up to the mark. They have the potential to drive the match through a rough position to the victory. Wriddhiman Saha did not get the chance to bat properly in the previous match but he could be the player in the next match. The tail-enders are pretty reliable. Bowling crew of India is selected properly and it’s very balanced. Ishant Sharma is in good shape. He is competent of bowling a marvelous spell at the very start of the innings. Skipper is very happy with performance of the pacers and he said Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav getting into the furrow. They could be the key player for the next ODI. Their spell could be fruitful. The spinners did not click but expected they will click in the next match.
Sri Lankan top order just failed to boost up their innings in the previous match, but they are practicing hard to rectify their problem. Their top order is full of stars. Cricket is a team game but team is divided in many modules. To get victory maximum of these modules should get success. Tharanga, Dilshan, Sangakkara, Jayawardane is enough to drive the match to the victory. Skipper Mathews could be the star player of the next match. At the start of this series skipper Mathews said they will try some experiments. They experimented with moving Seekkuge Prasanna up the batting order. But this experiment was misfired. They should not try any other experiments in the 2nd ODI if they want to win. Randiv played pretty well form the bowling team. Lahiru Gamage had a memorable start in his first international One Day International as his first over in ODI cricket was a maiden and he took a wicket. He remained unbeaten at the end of the innings. He could perform well in the next match. Prasad could also be the crucial player.
Let’s see if India could lead the series with 2-0 or Sri Lanka balance it 1-1.
