After restricting the visitors to a low score of 205, India showed some quality with the willow on day 2 of the second test match at Nagpur. Getting out to bat India lost KL Rahul early on day one but since then the hosts have got their act together quite nicely.
There has been only one team in the match on day two as India denied Sri Lanka any substance of joy on the day. Indian batsmen Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara struck brilliant tons putting up a 209 run partnership. It was a stunning comeback for Murali Vijay who was suffering from a wrist injury which kept him out of the first test match at Eden Gardens.
As far as Cheteshwar Pujara is concerned, the player has been in fantastic form for India lately and once again showed his class against a strong Sri Lankan bowling line-up which surprised India in the first test. After the second days play at Nagpur, Cheteshwar Pujara remains unbeaten at a score of 121 from 284 balls whereas Murali Vijay went out for a brilliant 128 from 224 deliveries.

After the loss of Vijay’s wicket, skipper Virat Kohli came to the crease and was quick to reach the fifty mark score. The skipper has also been in stunning form for India and looks like he is well on his way to his 19th century in the longest format of the game.
The Sri Lankan bowlers looked dull on the day as neither spin nor pace could do any damage to the Indian batting line up. The only wicket that fell on day two was picked up by Rangana Herath while the others went back to the pavilion empty-handed. As the situation stands, Sri-Lanka needs to pull off something incredible to gain anything out of the test match.
