India vs Sri Lanka: Day 4 – Lunch Report
Nov 19, 2017 at 11:57 AM
After bowling out India for a low score of 172 Sri Lanka had made a decent start to their innings. The visitors are currently leading the hosts by 91 runs as they stand at a score of 263 at a loss of 8 wickets at lunch.
Much like the Indian openers, the Sri Lankan openers failed to make an impact at the top of the order, but there were healthy contributions from Lahiru Thirimane and Angelo Mathews in the middle of the order which saw Sri Lanka steady their ship. The two batters struck the fifties but could not make it big as both of them fell to the bowling of Umesh Yadav just after reaching the fifty mark.
Sri Lanka ended day three with a score of 165/4 and the start of day four skipper Dinesh Chandimal and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella chipped in with some useful runs which helped Sri Lanka reach the 200 run mark. But eventually Indian pacer Mohammed Shami got rid of both of the two players who were looking dangerous, much to the joy of the spectators.
The most notable contribution came from Rangana Herath who is still unbeaten at the crease at lunch with a score of 43. The late show from the left arm spinner continues to frustrate a determined Indian bowling attack as Sri Lanka inch closer to a 100 run lead.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami have been the pick of the bowlers for India on day 4 of the exciting cricket match with one and three wickets respectively. So now as the situation stands India are in a spot of bother as Sri Lanka hope to add a few more runs to their lead before the hosts take the crease again. However, it can be predicted that India needs to bat almost a day and a half to save the test and must improve on the way they batted in the first innings.
