After the completion of the T20I series, India and the West Indies will take on each other in the ODI series. The hosts had clinched the T20I series and they would like to continue their good form going in the ODI series. Meanwhile, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has not yet recovered and Mayank Agarwal has replaced him in the squad. However, Agarwal’s in-form Karnataka teammate KL Rahul is expected to open the innings with vice-captain Rohit Sharma.
On the other hand, the Indian team was sloppy in the field in the first two T20I matches and they would like to pull up their socks in the field. The West Indies gave good competition in the T20I series and they have shown that they are not going to be a pushover side in the ODI series.
India will be favorites.
However, as the format will change from 20 overs to 50 overs, the Indian team will have a better chance. Indian skipper Virat Kohli was in sublime form as he scored 183 runs in the three matches he played. Kohli was at his best and he would like to continue his good form going.
KL Rahul also got runs in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan and he would like to grab his chance with both hands in the ODI series. Rahul had scored a match-winning knock of 91 runs in the decider.
Meanwhile, West Indies will have few new players in the ODI set up. The visitors will have their hopes on Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran. Hayden Walsh impressed with the ball in the T20I series and he would aim to deliver the goods in the ODI series.
Match Prediction:
India will begin the contest as favorites in the ODI series. The hosts have been in sublime in their home conditions and the Windies will need to play out of their skin to upset the Virat Kohli-led side.
