The wicketkeeper-batsman was always in line to be dropped from the side as Indian skipper Virat Kohli returned after being rested for Bangladesh T20Is. Yes, he could have been tried and tested at least once before being dropped but the presence of likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey in the middle-order meant Samson sat out.
He is playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Kerala and will hope to continue his run to be in the squad for Sri Lanka T20Is in January, where India might rest key players.
