ToggleAfter registering the victory in T20I series, India will head to play three-match ODI series against West Indies. The ODI squad of India has a few changes after Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan have been ruled out due to their respective injuries. While West Indies’ opener Evin Lewis is also injured but it is not confirmed yet whether he will be the part of the ODI squad or not.

Shardul Thakur Included In ODI Squad

Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out from the ODI squad because he didn’t recover from the injury which he got during the domestic tournament. Now, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is set to miss the ODI series. He recurred with his old injury in the T20I series against West Indies. It has opened up the fresh opportunity to pacer Shardul Thakur, who has played only Test, five ODIs and seven T20Is for India.
Mayank Agarwal has also got the chance in place of the opener, Shikhar Dhawan. If he plays the upcoming ODI, it will be his debut match in the One Day International. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are the two other Indian cricketers who are also out of action because of the injuries.
Evin Lewis injury

The West Indies opener Evin Lewis was injured during the third T20I match in Mumbai. While he was fielding, his left foot got stuck into the ground, and he sustained a knee injury. Thus, he was ruled out of that game. But there is no confirmation whether Lewis will play the ODI matches or not. If he doesn’t recover before the game, Keemo Paul may get the chance.

Pitch Condition

The Chennai pitch will help the spinners to pick the wicket. It will be a challenging pitch for the batsman to chase the big targets. India last played the ODI match in the Chidambaram against Australia on 17th September 2017 where Kul-Cha partner picked five wickets.
