Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar recently admitted that it is painful to witness the current state of the Windies team following their poor show in the opening two days of the first Test against India.
Meanwhile, the fate of this Windies team against the hosts was on the cards. However, their spectacular capitulation has surprised many. The visitors are yet to offer any resistance and have failed in all the departments. As a result, they are on the brink of a heavy loss.
Speaking on the same, Sunil Gavaskar admitted his pain while talking to India Today. He also admitted that it was tough to understand their batting approach.

“This is not the best of West Indian sides we have seen from the past. But we must not forget Indian teams have also been beaten inside three days in the past. Their batting approach was a little hard to understand. Nobody was ready to buckle down,” Gavaskar said.
“Yes Kraigg Braithwaite got a peach of a delivery but the other batsmen looked like they wanted to hit their way out of trouble. It pains you a little bit to see West Indies this way. I hope they will get back to being very, very competitive like they were in the past,” Sunil Gavaskar added.

Windies, meanwhile, ended the day at 94 for six with Mohammed Shami leading the wicket-takers list. They will now have to bat their skin out to save this Test match from suffering a huge loss and go 1-0 down in this two-match Test series.
