India vs Windies 2018: Rohit Sharma Verge Of Achieving Captaincy Milestone Which Even Eludes MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli

Rohit Sharma will have the opportunity to add yet another feather to his cap in the upcoming third and final T20I between India and Windies.
While there are several examples of players who struggle to bat well after becoming captain, Rohit Sharma is an exception by a mile. He first led India during the home T20I and ODI series against last year and impressed immediately. In the ODI series, he scored a stunning double ton before slamming 118 in one of the T20Is.
Following that, he led India to title in the Nidahas Trophy and the Asia Cup. And recently, the right-hander led the team to series win over Windies in the ongoing T20I series. In the second match, he scored a blistering century to guide India to a series-clinching win. The century made him the first player to score four centuries in T20Is. He also became India’s leading run-scorer in the shortest of the game by surpassing Virat Kohli.
India will be now eyeing a clean sweep against the reigning World T20 champions. They will take on the visitors in the third T20I in Chennai on Sunday. And Rohit will have a chance to enter the record books in the third game.
If he manages to lead the team to their third successive win in the series, Rohit will script history as a captain by achieving a feat which eludes even MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli as captains.
A win in Chennai in the final dead-rubber encounter will make Rohit the first Indian captain to have registered two 3-0 whitewashes in a T20I series. Dhoni never achieved this feat twice during his illustrious career while Kohli is yet to achieve it. Last year, Rohit had led India to a 3-0 win over Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Dhoni’s only 3-0 win as captain came against Australia in 2016.
Overall, only two captains – Pakistan’s Sarfraz Ahmed and Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan – have achieved this incredible feat.
Rohit will also have a chance to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is. The India star needs 69 runs to overtake New Zealand’s Martin Guptill.
