Despite not making it to the final fours of the ongoing Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore had best players in their team. They had one of the best bowlers and one of them was Navdeep Saini. The speedster was impressive throughout the IPL season 12.
And owing to Saini’s 11 wickets contribution to the team, he has captured the attention of former England medium-pacer Dominic Cork. He says India will have a “massive” future with him.
“For me when you look at Navdeep Saini, I think India will have a massive future with. If we actually clip on him here and we play. We need to see the deliveries with his pegs,” Cork, a Star Sports SelectDugout expert, was quoted as saying in a media release on Monday.
Saini was RCB’s second best bowler with 11 scalps in 13 matches, Yuzvendra Chahal being the first. And even though RCB did not perform much to their fans’ expectation, Saini was impressive throughout. The lanky fast bowler who hails from Delhi bowled with a brisk pace and often crossed 145 km/h on the speedometer.
Cork added to his statement saying, “The one thing I want to tell these young bowlers is that its about the head position. He (Saini) can be a little taller. It looks like he is just going to fall away so he might put his weight forward. So that is Saini, someone who is already very successful in this game.”
As announced by the BCCI, Saini will be one of the four pacers who will be assisting team India in the nets upcoming World Cup. On the other hand, Assam’s Riyan Parag who played for Rajasthan Royals also impressed with his skills.
Meanwhile, former Australian batsman, Dean Jones lauded the teenager. Riyan, at the age of 17, became the youngest player to register an IPL fifty against Delhi Capitals.
“Riyan Parag is an absolute potential superstar. I reckon he plays amazing shots to all parts of the ground. He has amazing stroke play and is good on the back foot and front foot, he’s good everywhere. He has a knack for getting into the right position just as the ball is released,” Jones said.
“Just like (South African superstar) AB de Villiers he gives himself access to the ball to hit it 360 degrees,” said the former Australian cricketer.
Riyan Parag scored 160 runs from seven matches and impressed one and all with his striking ability.
