ToggleFormer India cricketer Virender Sehwag feels that the Indian team will try and win the upcoming 2023 World Cup for their former captain Virat Kohli as a tribute to his contribution to Indian cricket.
This comes after the ICC officially announced the much-awaited schedule for the World Cup 2023 which will be hosted by India and started from October 5 onwards which sees last edition’s finalists New Zealand and defending champions England clashing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India will open their ICC World Cup 2023 tournament by facing Australia in their first match on October 8, Sunday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They will then play Afghanistan in their second match on October 11 in Delhi.
The big-ticket match between India and Pakistan will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

Former India opener and World Cup winner Virender Sehwag said on Tuesday, June 27 that the entire country will be waiting to see Virat Kohli lift the coveted trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, come November 19.
The legendary batter recalled how he and his teammates, under MS Dhoni, gave it their all to make sure legendary Sachin Tendulkar had a fitting farewell.
And he said that Virat Kohli deserves to finish on a high and that winning the World Cup will be a crown jewel in the star batter’s glittering career.
“We played that World Cup for Tendulkar. If we won the World Cup, it would have been a great exit for Sachin paaji. Virat Kohli is the same now. Everybody will look to win the World Cup for him. He always gives more than 100 percent,” Sehwag told Star Sports.
“I think Virat Kohli is also looking to this World Cup. 100,000 people will watch you at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Virat knows how the pitches will behave. I am sure he will score a lot of runs and he will do his best to win the World Cup for India,” he added.
India will look forward to ending their decade-long wait for an ICC title as they have the home advantage come this World Cup 2023.
