Indian Players Complain About Anil Kumble To The BCCI, Claims A TV Channel’s report

Head Coach Anil Kumble seems to be going out of favour in the Indian team at the moment as reports state that the players are unhappy with his approach in the dressing room.

The players have complained about Kumble to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Committee of Administrators (COA), a report from the “India Today” TV revealed on Monday (May 29),

The reason of discontentment happens to be a lack of freedom according to the news channel.

“Team India cricketers are apparently not very happy with Anil Kumble and they have complained to the Committee of Administrators (CoA) about the coach’s overbearing attitude,” the report said.

“The players are unhappy with the fact that there was no freedom in the dressing room.”

This could be a stunning revelation if it turns out to be true. This clearly reflects the fact that players have not been enjoying the Kumble presence in recent times.

Also, the timing of the news also points that the chances of Kumble getting another term as the coach are very unlikely. BCCI, in fact, has already invited applications for the head coach’s role. While Kumble’s name also features in the list of probable candidates, it seems unlikely he will get a contract extension.

Kumble was appointed as the coach for a one-year term by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising his former teammates Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman in 2016.

His contract expires with the completion of the Champions Trophy.

Kumble has had a successful time at the helm of the senior team’s affairs.

He will end his first term with 11 wins out of the 13 home Tests and a track record of 5 Test series wins in a row coming against West Indies (overseas), New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia.

India, the defending champions, will begin their campaign against Pakistan on June 4th at Edgbaston. Team India si currently preparing for the second practice game against Bangladesh at Kennington Oval after having won the first practice encounter against New Zealand pretty easily.
