Indian players are asked to undergo the mandatory Yo-Yo Fitness Test. The squad members will take the fitness test before the historic match against Afghanistan as well.
Moreover, the India limited-over players will also have to pass in the fitness Test for upcoming Ireland and England tour.
It is a known fact that Indian players need to pass the Yo-Yo Test at all cost. If any player fails to clear the fitness test, he cannot get considered for the national team selection.
Consequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it compulsory for every player to clear the test with flying colours.
Indian Team has concentrated their energy on their fitness.
Meanwhile, the Yo-Yo Test was implemented in Indian cricket by former head coach, Anil Kumble. The former Indian captain was instrumental in getting the test on board.
The players will undergo the test on Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, the limited-over players will take the test in the coming week at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Indian cricketers need to achieve a score of 16.1 to retain their place in the team. A player who fails to meet this score, he will not get a chance in the playing XI.
Meanwhile, Indian Cricket has given special importance to fitness in the last four years. Team India captain Virat Kohli is also instrumental in instilling a fitness regime in the team players. Consequently, the team has also reaped rich fruits for their hard work.
India will take on Afghanistan on June 14 in Bengaluru. Men in Blue will then head to tour Ireland for two-match T20I series. Subsequently, India will play three ODIs, as many T20Is and five Test matches on England tour.
