Amit Mishra

The last time when Amit Mishra played an ODI for India, he was adjudged Player of the Match and Player of the Series. The performances, though, weren’t good enough as Mishra didn’t have the backing of the captain. He was dropped from playing XI for England ODIs. The same year ( 2016), he played his final Test and could never make a comeback in the team once he was dropped due to an injury.
The 37-year-old, who made his debut way back in 2003, was never backed by any captain he played under and always remained the third choice-spinner. At the start of his career, presence of Anil Kumble and Harbajan Singh meant Mishra sat out. In MS Dhoni’s era, Ashwin was the prime spinner. After Kohli took over as full-time limited-overs captain, Mishra only got to play two T20Is. He did come up with performances but the new captain also didn’t back him.
