According to reports, BCCI is confident that Jasprit Bumrah would return to the Indian team for the all-important ODI World Cup 2023 later this year. The 29-year-old has been one of the best fast bowlers of the decade, however, he is often sidelined due to injuries.

Jasprit Bumrah, who is seen as the leader of the Indian bowling unit has been sidelined with an injury since September 2022. According to the reports, the Indian management and the stakeholders do not want to risk him before the ODI World Cup as it may affect his long career.

The right arm pacer underwent back surgery in New Zealand–and has missed the entire edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. Bumrah will be doing rehabilitation to fully recover for the upcoming cricket season.

“From the last six to eight months, I am used to playing without Jasprit Bumrah. Of course, this is a different setup, but someone needs to put their hand up and step up. We can’t keep dwelling on it. Injuries are not in our control. We can’t do much about it,” speaking to the media about Bumrah’s injury, Rohit Sharma said.

As many fans believe the ODI World Cup this year will be the best chance for the Indian Team to end their ICC title drought, it has already hit an obstacle by injuries to main players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer.

The 29-year-old’s availability will be crucial for Indian Team in the ODI World Cup 2023. Indian team failed to win a single ICC trophy post-Champions Trophy victory in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Pertinently, India failed to cross the hurdle in the knockout stages despite doing well in the league stages.

Jasprit Bumrah Is Going To Find His Way – Ian Bishop

Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop believes it will be difficult for star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah to change his bowling action, stating that he had tried and failed to change his bowling action.

“So Jasprit is going to find his way. I don’t think you can look at changing his action. I tried to do that with mine and messed it up totally. I would personally look at managing what he does. Strengthening the core muscles of the body a lot. He is not 21 or 22,” Ian Bishop stated.

Earlier, Ian Bishop feels Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah needs to be given breaks from certain games and series. He said that Bumrah is a match-winner for India across the formats and Indian team should protect him for important matches.
