Indian Trio Receive 2016 ICC ODI Team of the Year Caps

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Wednesday (October 25), handed over the 2016 ICC ODI Team of the Year caps to Indian stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma before the start of the second One-Day International between India and New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Another Indian who made it to the elite list is all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Kohli and Sharma received their caps at the ground while Jadeja got it delivered at his home since he is not in the squad for the ongoing series.

The ICC tweeted a picture of Kohli and Sharma receiving their caps.

“India’s @imVkohli and @ImRo45 try on their 2016 ICC ODI Team of the Year caps! Will they make the 2017 XI?” the tweet from the apex body of the game read.

On the other hand, Jadeja too made it sure to know the world of his prized possession, as he took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with the cap.

“Feeling so proud to be part of the ICC ODI team 2016. #icc #bcci #cap #rajputboy,” he wrote.

The trio received the caps for making it to the team after their scintillating performances in the One-Day Internationals between 14 September 2015 and 20 September 2016. Interestingly, Kohli was named the skipper of the team despite not leading his own country, and he got ignored from the Test team even after leading India to the number one rank.

The ODI team was announced in December last year by the ICC along with the Test team of the year and the best players across formats.

Ace-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had scooped the award for the Cricketer of the Year award and the Test Cricketer of the Year award while Quinton de Kock was named the ODI Player of the Year.
