India's Prolu Ravindra Hits 29 Ball Century 1

Prolu Ravindra, a batsman who was playing in the tournament organised by KSCA, tore apart the record books on Saturday (29 July) when he scored a century in just 29 balls. This was a perfect tribute by the batsman, who idolises Virender Sehwag as his hero.

Ravindra played an innings of 144 of just 58 balls, which comprised of a total of 13 sixes and four boundaries. His aggressive effort saw his team Gymkhana Club posting a score of 403, in reply to which the Jaipur club could only manage a score of 229. It was the superlative effort from Ravindra which helped his side to crush their opposition.

“Virender Sehwag is my role model. I have been studying in class 10 after playing in cricket and I am aiming for a home in the IPL as well as helping parents,” said Ravindra after the game.

With this, he also achieved the record of the fastest ton in cricket at any level. Though the record is debatable as the records of Delhi’s Mohit Ahlawat  – the only batsman to score a triple century t20 cricket – are incomplete and it is not known how many deliveries he consumed to reach his century. But in Ravindra’s case, the record books were maintained and he is officially the fastest centurion at any level.

Talking of international cricket, AB de Villiers is the current owner of the record to score the fastest century as the South African batsman reached the three figure mark against Windies in just 31 balls, taking over Corey Anderson. In Test cricket, Brendon McCullum holds this record, which he achieved against Australia, in his final Test match. He consumed just 54 balls to reach the landmark. In the shortest format of the game i.e. T20I cricket, South Africa’s Richard Levi owns the record. He claimed this record in the year 2012 against New Zealand in Hamilton, where he reached the milestone in 45 balls.
