India will play a five match test series in England which starts from the ninth of July. Prior to that, India will play 2 warm up games. The two month long tour and the tour will end on the irst week of September. India will play five tests and the same number of One Day Internationals apart from a solitary T20 International in the tour.
There have been quite a few changes in the Indian squad. Gautam Gambhir has been included in the squad. As many as five pacers have been picked for the tournament. They are: Mohammed Shami, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Varun Aaron, Pankaj Singh and Ishant Sharma.
The MS Dhoni led side will have a tough challenge in the tour. In India’s last tour to England in 2011, India was whitewashed in the four match test series. But the present English squad lack strength. England has just lost the test series against Sri Lanka and their batting strength is also decreased to an extent by the absence of Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott.
Recently, the English squad is also in an unbalanced state and also their captain’s recent form is being questioned which might be an advantage to India.
Indian Skipper, MS Dhoni said that his team is prepared. He added, “For quite a few players it’s a first tour to England but have had exposure in South Africa and New Zealand and have a few games behind them. It’s good we are going early so that we can get into the groove. It’s a long series and not very usual to play 5-Test match series. Overall, it’s looking good. We have got enough time to prepare.”
