International Cricket Council President Mustafa Kamal Rules out Resignation
Mustafa Kamal, International Cricket Council (ICC) president has banished “rumours” that he was resigning from his designation.
Bdnews24.com reports, Mustafa Kamal, who is also the planning minister of the Bangladesh government, had termed the umpiring in Bangladesh’s quarterfinal game against India as “poor” and intimidated to step down after the match on 19th March.
Kamal reportedly told media after his side’s 109 runs defeat on Thursday against defending champion India in the quarter-finals of the current International Cricket Council World Cup that it seems the International Cricket Council (ICC) has become the Indian Cricket Council. He is not the president of the Indian Cricket Council.
The result of the game was spoiled by many controversial umpiring decisions. Mustafa Kamal also added that if International Cricket Council (ICC) did not probe the issue and take measures against it, he would resign from his president designation. When news of Mustafa Kamal’s resignation spread on social media platforms, Kamal’s ministry issued a media comment labeling the news as “rumour”.
The assertion said Kamal himself confirmed that he had not resigned from International Cricket Council (ICC). Along with former cricket players and analysts, Kamal came down heavily on the “poor” umpiring in the game.
David Richardson, ICC chief executive labeled Kamal’s comments “very unfortunate”. Richardson said in a statement that as an International Cricket Council (ICC) president, he should have been more considerate in his criticism of International Cricket Council (ICC) game officials, whose integrity cannot be questioned.
