The Indian Premier League has taken off in fine fashion as the first few games of the 10th edition of the tournament has already provided its fair share of thrills and spills in the first few games.
All the teams in the competitions have at least played a game each as the Daredevils and the Gujarat Lions are the only two clubs that are yet to get on board.
While defending champions Sunrisers are at the top of the table, the Kolkata Knight Riders in the second place, closely behind.
Bangalore’s IPL franchise RCB have not made a great start to their campaign and have just one victory from their first two games this season.
They are currently sixth in the table but will only get better as the tournament progresses as they have a number of star players returning from injury.
RCB have missed the likes of KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc and Virat Kohli himself due to injuries but one player who might be back with the team soon is South African star AB de Villiers.
The South African star has not been in great form for his national side recently but was a part of the Titans’ domestic T20 league victory not so long ago in his country.
He missed out on the first couple of games in the competition as RCB used the likes of Shane Watson, Tymal Mills, Chris Gayle and Travis Head as their overseas players in the first two games of the competitions.
Watson and Gayle are expected to keep their place while Mills should be their striker bowler this season but RCB will want AB de Villiers to take up his place in the team and replace Head but the star’s injury has prevented RCB from playing their strongest lineup for this game.
But the fans of the franchise were given a huge boost today after De Villiers himself revealed that he could be up for selection very soon.
Speaking to RCB’s official website, De Villiers revealed that he is finally settled into the IPL and that he is ready to take his role in the side in the game against Kings XI Punjab, away from home on Monday.
Here is the video:
The Kings have won their only game so far and are third in the table but RCB are expected to hit them with some tough challenges as the duo fight for three crucial points at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
Though Gayle has been out of form, he is a match-winner and might not be dropped so Travis Head might be the man to miss out on a place in this game, if ABD is up for selection.
