Rising Pune Supergiant bamboozled Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground, as the visiting team defeated the home side by a margin of 12 runs, defending a total of 149.
It was David Warner who won the toss and asked RPS to bat first but he misjudged the pitch, as the deck went on to slow down much more than what he expected, and it was the Hyderabad team that was hurt by it, as in the end, it was the home side that ended up on the losing side.
It was a special effort from Pune bowlers, especially Jaydev Unadkat, who bagged a fifer, including a hat-trick in the last over. He bowled a maiden over, defending 13 runs in the final one of the game. Along with that, he also completed his 100 wickets in the IPL.
Pune captain Steven Smith was in all awe of Jaydev Unadkat and was impressed by the bowling efforts of the team as he said –
“Very good win. The boys scrapped incredibly well. It was a tough wicket to get going on. We thought 148 was a bit below part. We thought 165 was about par, but the boys scrapped hard. The stronger boys could time the ball better on that and get the most out of it. We did well to scrap to 147. The bowlers did a terrific job. The lengths they bowled was outstanding and how we used the long boundaries on one side was crucial. He (Unadkat) is doing nicely and is bowling well up front. Taking key wickets there as well and deserved to get his hat-trick. Magnificent effort. We have played really well in the last 7-8 games. We have been on a good little run. We don’t play for some time and it is time to unwind, look at what we have done and come back.”
