A poor start for the defending champions started with a huge loss as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians by 41 runs. However, MI managed to win the twitter battle with 53%-47% over KKR.
Here are the twitter reactions for the 1st game of the season:
It started with some epic trendsetting tweets from Trendulkar. And easily showed Mumbai Indians lost the fan following after Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement.
COME ON MUMBAAAI!! COME ON SACH..OH! WTF IS THIS SHIT!???

And soon a beautiful Malinga’s Toe crushing Yorker went into the Gautam Gambhir’s stumps and soon realised it was positive dismissal for him.
I read gambhir didn’t get out poking.. Thats a big positive & then indeed a moral victory

And Kallis was going with singles on one end as soon Ex-Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra tweeted this.
That awkward moment when Manish Pandey is more valuable than Kallis. #PepsiIPL

It was some hopeful tweets from Kallis supporters backing his innings as FSL tweets the reality.
Kallis was 16*(15) and now 22*(18) , higher SR than Manish Pandey and commentators are going on as if he is batting at 60-65 SR. Sigh. #IPL

And once again it was Aakash Chopra who took on Kallis as he supported Malinga for dropping the catch.
I always knew that Malinga is acutely aware of the situation…and its demands. #PepsiIPL

And in came stat tweet of Manish Pandey as he scored a brilliant 50. It followed by a funny tweet from epic tweeter Ramesh Srivats.
The first Indian to score an IPL hundred scores the first 50 of IPL7. KKR needed a solid inns from Manish. Good knock! Time to step up. #IPL

Scores in South Africa. Scores in Abu Dhabi. Fails in India. It’s time Manish Pandey is classified as an overseas player.

Soon after Kallis was criticized for his slow batting he came in to a beat hitting mode. And this appeared in between.
Waiting for Kallis to take off his mask and tell the world he’s Chris Gayle.

At the end of the innings it was Sachin’s show as his smile enlightened many people after been featured on Television screens.

Hussey on whom Mumbai had big hopes was dismissed cheaply to Narine.
Hussey toh (Narine ke bowling par) Phussey. #IPL #MIvsKKR

Corey Anderson who was expected much was failed both with bat and ball as he looked clueless against spin. And he got trolled by Ex-MI player.
Anderson has officially replaced me as Expensive Benchwarmer for #MI .My first outing wasn’t that bad! #IPL7
— Glenn Maxwell (@GMaxi_32Not) April 16, 2014
It was our own FSL compared Corey with Indian uncapped players.
Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav hitting Corey Anderson to all parts of the ground. Aukaat dikha di Corey Anderson ko apni #IPL
— Aditya (@forwardshortleg) April 16, 2014
Some instructions came from England’s Michael Vaughan for Mumbai Indians to open with Rohit Sharma.
You must open @ImRo45 like you do for India….@mipaltan
— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) April 16, 2014
A tweet just like Ravi Shastri’s commentary came at the end.
At the end of the day, an Indian team won. Goodnight.
— Gautam Verma (@gautamverma23) April 16, 2014
After a poor game Mumbai Indians twitter handle came out with a positive tweet to reduce some sadness in fans.
Last year we lost our first game but later went on to win the trophy. Our boys will bounce back… we have done it before!!! #DilSeMI #MI
