IPL 2014, Match 51: MI vs DD: Captains’ Reactions after the game
In a game to keep playoffs alive Mumbai Indians came out well to beat Delhi daredevils which now makes them to hope on KXIP–RR match to be in playoffs. On other hand Delhi continued its poor show and now hoping to end on high winning the last match. Michael Hussey played a key role in MI’s 15 run win, who scored a half century won the Man of the Match.
This is what the captains of both the teams have to say:
Losing team’s captain Pietersen said that their batsman and bowlers put up a fight but disappointed couldn’t cross the line. He agreed that making winning habit will boost confidence and hopes to end on high note. He also said that they will look forward towards next season.
Kevin Pietersen (DD’s Captain): “The bowlers and batters showed fight. We get so close, but just can’t get over the line. It’s all about getting into a winning habit and getting confidence. We will fight all the way through on Sunday and see where we go next season. The boys have all pulled together, but we just haven’t clicked. It’s been a fun environment, and it bodes well for the future. I hope we can challenge next year.“
Winning team’s captain Rohit has said thet they played some brilliant cricket. He was disappointed for not getting to 200 after a brilliant start. He hope that it still be in their hand in the last game to qualify. He thanked the crowd for supporting them and said that whole Mumbai will be behind KXIP today.
Rohit Sharma (MI’s Captain): “I thought we played some brilliant cricket tonight. I thought we should have got at least close to 200. To come out and defend that total was brilliant. The bowlers stuck to the task. The wicket was just holding up a bit when we were batting. We have quality spinners in our ranks, so we knew we could defend whatever score we posted. The 5 games in Dubai are definitely hurting us. We’ll go back to the hotel and watch the KXIP and RR game. The whole of Mumbai are backing KXIP!“
Man of the Match Michael Hussey has said that Wankhede was one of his favourite grounds in the world. He said the pitch was good and happy to play here. And now he will be hoping KXIP win for them.
Michael Hussey (Man of the match): “This is probably one of my favourite grounds in the world, the atmosphere is phenomenal. Was very fortunate to get a game here. It was a good pitch … we’ve had a good trip on the road and coming back here, Mumbai has always played here. We just need Kings XI to win tonight.“
