IPL 2016: GL vs RSP – Numbers to look out for

In the battle of the newbies (new only in terms of the team), we can expect a good fight between two teams who know the players of opposition very well. On one side where we have Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Rising Pune Supergiants along with players like R Ashwin, du Plessis and Kevin Pietersen, on the other side we have the hosts Gujarat Lions led by Suresh Raina along with the likes of D Bravo, Jadeja, Finch, and Faulkner.

Both these teams are new in the tournament, hence, we don’t have any history of head-to-head matches but there are definitely some exciting numbers to look out for as both of them have started the tournament with a win. Read more to know what you can expect in the match been GL and RSP –

The Champion Bravo:
4 wickets in the first match and with a total of 109 wickets Dwayne Bravo is currently the second most successful foreign bowler in IPL. Malinga tops with 143. Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, and Amit Mishra have picked 2 or 3 more wickets than Bravo. If Bravo can repeat his first match performance then he has a chance to become the 2nd most successful bowler in IPL.

3000 for Captain Cool:
Dhoni is short of just 13 runs to become the 7th player and 2nd Wicket-keeper in the history of IPL to complete 3000 runs. He would be the first player who doesn’t bat in the top 3 and has consistently come on to bat in the middle order.

Orange Cap Contenders:
Currently, the Orange Cap is held by Gautam Gambhir (102 Runs), but the Orange Cap has a habit of switching head very quickly. In the match between GL and RSP two players who can make their Orange cap theirs is Aaron Finch (74 runs) and Ajinkya Rahane (66 Runs).

Century and a fifty for Jadeja:
With 98 fours and 49 sixes, Jadeja needs a couple of boundaries to complete a century of fours and one six to complete his half century of sixes.

Players to look out for –

Ajinkya Rahane – He is batting it out to get the title of Mr. Consistent to his name. Rahane has always lived up to the expectations of the team and will be expecting to perform well against the Lions as well.

Aaron Finch – Finch too showed good form in the previous match and the batting line-up of Lions will be heavily relying on him to take on the bowling attack of Supergiants. If anyone can stop him, well it’s the player next in the list.

R Ashwin – Ashwin picks up wickets at regular intervals for Dhoni and there is no asking why he is the go-to man when every other bowler is struggling. He can be tough to read for the batsmen of Lions.
