IPL 2016: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore – More records in the name of Kohli
Royal Challengers Bangalore are in a situation where they need to win every match from now on to make it to the playoffs. Knight Riders, on the other hand, are placed on 2nd position with 14 points in 11 matches. Now that we are closing in at the end of the finishing league stage, every match can change the standings.
Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bowl as few teams have been successful against KKR while chasing. As KKR came in to bat, Robin Uthappa lost his wicket early. Gautam Gambhir and Manish Pandey steadied the innings as both batsmen scored their 50s. In the end, it was Andre Russell and Shakib al Hasan who gave the teams run rate a push and thanks to which KKR managed to score 183 runs in 20 overs.
Gayle has had a poor T20 season this year but this match has changed the fortune for him as Gayle was striking the ball as we have seen him play in previous seasons. Gayle scored 49 runs in just 31 deliveries. But once de Villiers arrived, it was only a matter of time that Kohli and de Villiers started attacking. Once these two got started, KKR bowlers had no answers what so ever.
